Buweekula have registered their first victory of the 2026 Masaza Cup campaign after edging Busujju 1-0 in a closely contested encounter.

The victory has renewed optimism within the camp, with the technical team expressing confidence that it could mark the beginning of a sustained push for the Masaza Cup title.

Assistant head coach Michael Bukenya praised his players for their resilience and discipline.

"This victory is very important for us. The players showed determination and discipline throughout the match. We have now started our journey towards reclaiming the Masaza Cup trophy, and we shall continue working hard in the upcoming games," Bukenya said.

Head coach Ibrahim Kyobe said the result would provide a timely confidence boost for the squad.

"We needed this win to boost the players' confidence. The supporters have stood with us, and we are happy to reward them with a positive result. Our focus now shifts to the next match," he said.

The Kabaka's representative in Buweekula, Andrew Mukasa Ssempijja, congratulated the team on the victory and urged them to maintain the momentum.

"I congratulate the players, coaches and supporters for this important victory. We believe Buweekula has what it takes to compete for the trophy, and we encourage the team to maintain the same spirit," he said.

Despite the defeat, Busujju head coach Hussein Kato remained optimistic, promising a stronger performance in the return fixture.

"We lost today, but football is played in two rounds. We shall prepare well and look forward to avenging this defeat when Buweekula visit us," Kato said.

Buweekula team manager Deo Lubega credited the victory to the players' commitment and teamwork.

"I want to thank our players for the discipline and determination they showed throughout the match. This victory is a reward for their hard work. We shall continue giving our best in every game to make the people of Buweekula proud," he said.

The win leaves Buweekula with renewed confidence ahead of their next Masaza Cup fixture away to Buluuli on Sunday.
