NRM's Businge takes Hoima seat

Featured

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Harriet Businge yesterday won the hotly contested Hoima Woman MP by-election

According to the final results, Businge garnered 33301 votes against 28,789 votes for the joint opposition candidate Asinansi Nyakato.

NRM supporters  poured onto the streets to jubilate the victory after the announcement by the returning officer Douglas Matsiko.

The opposition has already cried foul claiming there was voter bribery and rigging by the NRM.

The seat fell vacant after the incumbent Tophace Kaahwa Byagira opted to represent the people of the newly created Kikuube district that was carved out of Hoima and became operational on July 1, 2019
