Fairway hotel comes of age with Nostalgic RnB Brunch

Kampala’s second Freixenet Old School RnB Brunch on Sunday was nothing short of a throwback extravaganza, as over 600 revellers crammed into Fairway Hotel to groove to classic RnB hits, sip endless bubbly, and relive the golden days of hip-hop, soul, and smooth moves.

The Coco Pool Bar & Restaurant Area transformed into a time machine as the crowd belted out every lyric to their favorite old-school anthems like it was a 90s karaoke night.

Attendees described the atmosphere as “Sunday church meets school reunion,” as they shared nostalgic nods and shoulder shimmies in perfect rhythm.

The entertainment lineup was stacked, with live serenades by Black Roots Academy of Soul and BlackRoots UNLIMITED setting the vibe. Meanwhile, Ssese Nation’s top DJs – DJ Bryan, DJ Ssese, DJ Noah Lubega, Selector Jay, and Kenya’s DJ Incredible  kept the party rolling with a setlist that had everyone throwing their hands up like they just didn’t care.

Adding a little sparkle (and maybe a lot of sparkle) was Freixenet, celebrating 50 years of its iconic Cordon Negro by pouring bottomless glasses of bubbles. Guests were treated to refreshing drinks that flowed as freely as the good vibes.

David Kakonge, CEO of Blackshowmans Limited (the magic behind Freixenet in Uganda), couldn’t have been happier about the turnout. “The success of this second brunch proves that people never get tired of good music and great bubbly,” he said, grinning. “We’re thrilled to keep Freixenet flowing for more events like these!”

Camelot Concepts, the event masterminds, have big plans to make the Freixenet Old School RnB Brunch a staple for Kampala’s music fans and socialites. If this Sunday’s turnout is any sign, the brunch is set to become a can’t-miss event for anyone looking to groove, toast, and get their nostalgia fix all in one.
