Newly compiled data on social media use in Uganda has shown exponential growth and prospects of further expansion penetration of different sectors and spheres of life in the country.

The new data shows that up to a 3.4million Ugandans are active users of social media sites with an annual growth rate of 36%.

The data was compiled by Next Com, a digital and communications agency based in Kampala, using collaborated data from “Hootsuite” and “We are Social”

Globally, 4.2 billion people are active social media users. This number grew by more than 490 million between January 2020 and January 2021.

The Next Com team attributed the rapid growth of social media in Uganda to continued improvement in mobile possibilities
