Student Found Hanging Dead in Toilet at Naalya S.S in Bweyogerere

An 18-year-old male student has been  found hanging in the toilet at Naalya Secondary School , Bweyogerere Campus in Kira Municipality, Wakiso district.

According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident was reported on the evening of 8 July 2026 after the unnamed student was found hanging inside a toilet block within the school's boys' section.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was seen entering the toilet block shortly before he was discovered,” Owoyesigyire said.

“ A handwritten note believed to have been authored by the deceased was recovered and has been secured as part of the ongoing investigations. Its contents are being examined and will form part of the inquiry.”

He said that at the scene, a team of detectives and Scene of Crime officers documented, recorded statements from relevant witnesses, and conveyed the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a post mortem examination.

Owoyesigyire added that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing, promising to provide further updates.

There have been several cases of students found hanging at school premises in the past.

In February last year, a  16 year odl student was found hanging dead in the dormitory of Seeta High School in Mukono at around 3am.

Earlier, another senior three student had self-mmolated while protesting her parents' decision to eturn her to a single girls' school, Mpoma Girls' School in Mukono district.
