Police in Nansana have dismantled a suspected criminal gang linked to a series of robberies targeting bank clients, following intelligence-led operations conducted earlier this month.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, four suspects were arrested between March 10 and March 14, 2026, in connection with the coordinated attacks.

The suspects are believed to have been trailing individuals leaving banking halls before ambushing them and robbing them of cash and other valuables. The incidents were reported in several areas within Nansana, including around Base Hotel and nearby banking points.

Owoyesigyire said preliminary investigations indicate that the group operated using boda bodas to track and quickly escape from their victims. The suspects were reportedly armed with pangas, which they used to threaten and overpower targets during the robberies.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to participating in several robbery incidents targeting bank clients within Nansana,” he said, adding that the arrests mark a significant step in disrupting the group’s operations.

Police believe the suspects may be part of a wider criminal network and have since launched further investigations to identify and apprehend other accomplices still at large.

Authorities have urged members of the public, particularly individuals withdrawing large sums of money, to exercise caution and consider seeking police escorts or using safer means of transport.
