MTN appoints Ebenezer Asante to Board
MTN Uganda has appointed senior telecom executive Ebenezer Twum Asante to its Board as a non-executive director, bringing decades of leadership experience across MTN operations in Africa and global corporate management.

MTN Uganda has appointed veteran telecom executive Ebenezer Twum Asante to its Board of Directors as a non-executive director, effective May 6, 2026.

The appointment was announced in line with Rule 36 of the Uganda Securities Exchange Listing Rules 2025.

Asante currently serves as Senior Vice President for the Southern and East Africa, Ghana and Sudan (SEAGHAS) regions at MTN Group, overseeing operations across several African markets.

In a statement signed by Company Secretary Enid Edroma on behalf of the Board, MTN described Asante as an experienced business leader with extensive expertise in telecommunications and management across Africa.

He previously held senior roles within MTN Group, including Vice President for West and Central Africa, and later for Southern and East Africa and Ghana between 2017 and 2020.

Asante has also served as Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana and MTN Rwanda, where he oversaw strong operational and financial performance while driving people-focused leadership and sustainable growth.

Before joining MTN, he worked in senior leadership roles at Unilever across several international markets, where he gained experience in general management, commercial operations and organisational transformation.

He currently serves on several boards within MTN Group and holds one external board position.

“The Board is confident that he will be a valuable addition to its membership and will contribute immensely to the Board’s oversight role,” Edroma said.

“The Board is pleased to have Mr Asante join its membership and accordingly welcomes him to the team,” she added.
