The event took place at the company's call center along Bukoto Street and at the Ndeeba Branch.
Under the theme “Donate Blood and Save a Life,” the blood donation drive organized together with the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services was part of activities to mark the company's fifth anniversary
Over 80 people donated blood during the drive contributing a total of 100 units.
According to Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, this amount of blood can potentially save up to 300 lives, providing critical support to hospitals and emergency services.
Armands Supstiks, Deputy Country Manager for Watu applauded the public for joining the donation drive.
"We are immensely grateful to everyone who participated in our blood donation drive. It’s inspiring to witness our team and community come together for such a vital cause. This event underscores our commitment to CSR and our dedication to supporting the communities in which we operate," Supstiks said.
He further emphasized the drive’s impact on saving lives, particularly those affected by boda boda road accidents.
"This initiative is about more than saving lives; it’s a testament to our commitment to enhancing safety measures and supporting those impacted by boda boda accidents. We are deeply thankful to our staff and community members who heeded our call to donate."
Watu Credit has financed over 150,000 motorcycles in the last five years, providing individuals with electric and fuel-powered transportation options.
The company has also issued over 60,000 smartphone loans, helping individuals stay connected and impacting lives of almost a million Ugandans.
