Maya Preparatory School Swears In 2026 Pupil Leaders
Maya Preparatory School has sworn in its 2026 pupil leaders, with school administrators urging the new prefects to lead with integrity, discipline and a commitment to academic excellence.

Maya Preparatory School has sworn in its 2026 pupil leaders, with administrators urging the newly elected prefects to uphold discipline, integrity and academic excellence as they begin their leadership journey.

The swearing-in ceremony, held this week, was organised to recognise the responsibility entrusted to the pupil leaders and equip them with leadership skills for service within the school and beyond.

Headteacher Shafic Isabilye thanked parents for supporting the election process, noting that the competition for leadership positions had been intense.

"It wasn't easy for the newly elected leaders because many pupils contested and only a few were successful. That effort deserves to be appreciated," Isabilye said.

He also commended the school administration, particularly the director, for providing financial support and encouragement to ensure the ceremony was successfully held.

School director Muwanga Ssembatya thanked parents and other stakeholders for supporting the exercise, singling out Hajji Karim Kaliisa, managing director of Salam TV and Salam Charity, for providing media support.

"We especially thank Hajji Karim Kaliisa for the media support. We cannot take that for granted, and we look forward to a strong partnership," Ssembatya said.

He also paid tribute to the outgoing prefects for their service.

"I thank the outgoing prefects for the work done. We have been monitoring your performance and it was excellent. We pray that you continue with that spirit," he said.

Addressing the newly elected leaders, Ssembatya urged them to become role models and embrace the responsibilities entrusted to them.

"Thank you to the new prefects for being courageous and hardworking enough to contest for these positions. Follow the guidance shared during the swearing-in, conduct yourselves well and continue pursuing your dreams to become future leaders in different fields. We shall continue holding meetings to guide you on your responsibilities because we are preparing the next generation of leaders," he said.

Newly elected Head Boy Muhammad Sharif Kaliisa thanked God, teachers and fellow learners for entrusting him with the leadership role.

"I thank the Almighty God for the opportunity to witness this occasion. I appreciate the teachers for their guidance, teaching and mentorship, which help shape responsible learners and leaders. I also thank my fellow learners for electing me as Head Boy," he said.

Kaliisa pledged to lead with honesty, humility, discipline, fairness and respect while promoting teamwork among the prefects.

"I congratulate my fellow prefects and call upon them to work together to promote academic excellence, cleanliness, unity and respect within the school," he said.

He also appealed to learners to cooperate with prefects and teachers to create a conducive learning environment.

"I ask for God's guidance and wisdom as this new journey of leadership begins," he added.

School officials said the swearing-in marks the start of a mentorship programme aimed at nurturing responsibility, leadership and civic values among the newly elected pupil leaders.
