NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu on Friday, November 21, 2025, held a peaceful rally in Koboko District, marking another smooth engagement on his campaign trail through the West Nile sub-region.
Kyagulanyi arrived in Koboko Town shortly after midday, travelling from Maracha District where he had spent the night following rallies in Terego and Maracha.
He made a brief stop at his office in Koboko Town Council before proceeding to Koboko Boma Grounds, where he addressed supporters for over an hour.
Police escorted him out of the district and later handed him over to the North West Nile regional security team at Lodonga, the boundary between Koboko and Yumbe districts.
West Nile Regional Police spokesperson SSP Josephine Angucia described the day’s events as calm and orderly.
“Generally, the NUP presidential campaigns in the West Nile Region have been peaceful and successful in most districts,” SSP Angucia said.
She noted, however, that isolated incidents had occurred in Arua City Central Division, where four cases of malicious damage to police vehicles were reported. Thirty-two suspects were arrested and are assisting with investigations.
Despite the disturbances, SSP Angucia commended officers for maintaining restraint and avoiding escalation even when managing “youthful and sometimes provocative crowds.”
“No cases of injuries, accidents, or deaths have been registered during these campaigns. This is due to the high level of professionalism and restraint exhibited by our officers,” she said.
The spokesperson also thanked residents for cooperating with security personnel and observing electoral guidelines.
“We thank the people of West Nile for observing law and order, and we urge them to maintain the same spirit as other campaigns continue,” she added.
Kyagulanyi continues his nationwide campaign trail ahead of the 2026 general elections.
