President Museveni on Friday commissioned the construction of the new Headquarters and Multi-Purpose Infrastructure for Obwa Kyabazinga bwa Busoga, marking a major step in the Kingdom’s institutional strengthening and service delivery.
The ceremony, held at the Kingdom premises in Bugembe, saw the President lay a Foundation Stone to signal the beginning of construction works.
“This development will support the cultural institution as we continue working with the people of Busoga to secure peace and push forward socio-economic transformation,” President Museveni said, noting that cultural institutions play an essential role in mobilising communities and preserving identity.
The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope, welcomed the development and expressed gratitude for the government’s support.
He said the new headquarters would significantly improve the Kingdom’s ability to serve the people.
The event was attended by senior Kingdom and national leaders, including Owekitiibwa Joseph Muvawala, the Katuukiro; Professor Muhammad Lubega Kisambira, First Deputy Katuukiro; and Rebecca Kadaga, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs.
The modern headquarters will include administrative offices, cultural facilities and multi-purpose spaces designed to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery.
A Project Management Team has been established to oversee implementation, led by Owek. Osman Ahmed Noor, Deputy Katuukiro and Prime Minister of the Kingdom.
The commissioning came just before President Museveni’s final rally at Bugembe Stadium, where thousands of residents turned up, reflecting the strong ties between the NRM government and the people of Busoga.
