Eighteen Candidates Gear Up for Mubende Parliamentary Race
Ferdinand Mulekezi, the district returning officer for Mubende, declares Dedan Mubangizi nominated for Buwekula South.

Mubende District’s political contest is heating up as eighteen candidates have been officially nominated to vie for parliamentary seats, promising development, better services, and solutions to pressing local challenges.

The Electoral Commission yesterday added five nominees, bringing the total contesting candidates to eighteen across the district’s four constituencies.

Among the notable contenders are Dedan Mubangizi, the NRM flag bearer for Buwekula South; Hope Felister Nanyanzi, the NUP flag bearer for Mubende Woman MP; Sumayah Nabawanuka, NUP flag bearer for Mubende Municipality; David Kabanda, NRM flag bearer for Kassambya Constituency; and Yudayah Nakatudde Sebayigga of the ANT, contesting for Mubende Woman MP.

After his nomination, Mubangizi promised to improve services in Buwekula South, emphasizing the need for voters to choose a candidate with strong government lobbying capacity.

“The constituency lacks a lot, and I am the answer to everything. I appeal to the people of Buwekula South to trust me for better services,” Mubangizi said.

He added that independent candidates, including the current MP William Museveni Ndori, have done little to bring development.

ANT candidate Yudayah Nakatudde pledged to tackle key district challenges, including poor roads, inadequate schools, and land conflicts.

“We have many challenges, but I am the solution. The people of Mubende should trust me to work on their problems,” Nakatudde said.

Hope Felister Nanyanzi vowed to fight land grabbing and ensure residents benefit from the national land fund.

“We are facing a serious challenge of land grabbing. I will ensure our people benefit from the land fund so they can fully settle and use their land. Our people are being evicted day and night, but if I am elected, everything will be addressed,” she stated.

Mubende District is divided into four constituencies: Mubende Municipality, with five candidates; Kassambya, two; Buwekula South, three; and Buwekula County, four candidates.
