Comedian, Pablo, throws hat in political ring

Comedian Kenneth Kimuli commonly known as 'Pablo' has become the latest artiste to join elective politics.

Pablo is seeking to represent the people of Bunyagabu county, Bunyangabu district in the next Parliament come 2021.

After he was nominated last week, he assured voters that he is ready to present their voices in the parliament.

On the public perception that MPs are driven by financial gain rather than the needs of the electorate, Pablo said that is just a stereotype adding that he is not a politician but a leader who has come to serve.

He said although most people take comedians as being unserious, this time he is ready to represent his people whole heartedly.

"Comedy is a funny way of being serious and at this time, it is not a joke. I am serious and I want to represent my people of Bunyangabu because it is a young district. So people are gifted in different ways,"he said.

He noted that he is coming as an independent because the objective is to have an opinion that is not subjected to terms and conditions of political parties.

Other artists that joined politics Include Hilary Kiyaga, also known as Dr Hilderman and Geoffrey Lutaaya.

Another female artist that had publicly declared her intentions to vie for Gomba Municipality seat, Flavia Namulindwa, went silent.
