Police summon Bobi Wine for defying their orders
The Police’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations has summoned Kyadondo East Member of Parliament cum singer, Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine to report at their headquarters today without fail.
According to the summons dated April 25, 2019 and signed by the Deputy CID Director, Joseph Obwona, Bobi Wine is accused of inciting violence, inciting violence and defying orders when he proceeded to Busaabala for his Kyarenga Extra concert on Easter Monday.

“Inquiries are being conducted in the above quoted reference whereby on the April 22, 2019, you were allegedly involved in inciting violence and unlawful assembly in defiance of the Inspector General of Police guidelines during the preparation of Kyarenga Extra Concert at Busabala,” Obwona’s letter reads in part.
According to the letter, the legislator cum singer is expected to appear at CID and answer a number of queries related to the matter that will help police in their investigations.
“This is therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of section 27A of the Police Act required to report to the acting commissioner in charge of electoral and political crimes, Criminal Investigations Directorate on 26 April, 2019.”
Police recently blocked the Easter Monday Kyarenga Extra concert at Busaabala claiming that management had failed to meet security guidelines at previous concerts.
“On that background, Uganda Police therefore will not be able to secure your planned concerts and will not risk them to be carried out in any unsecure environments,” police said in an April 19 letter.
However, the singer proceeded to the concert venue where he was arrested by police before he was returned and confined at his home in Magere, Kasangati, Wakiso district.
He was later put under preventive arrest by police.
On Wednesday, the State Minister for Internal Affairs Obiga Kania told parliament that Police had preferred charges against the legislator and was to appear before the Crime Intelligence and Criminal Investigations Directorate (CIID) to record a statement.
“Police are still in the premises of the Hon Kyagulanyi. The reason is police have decided to prefer charges against him and he has been summoned to appear at CID headquarters to record a statement,”Kania said.
