The Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Relief, and Refugees, Ms Lilian Aber, has initiated the resettlement of 242 landslide victims in Bududa District.

Engaging directly with the affected community, Minister Aber outlined the government's plan to relocate them to safer government-provided land in Bulambuli District.

In a community dialogue, Aber reassured residents that the relocation is crucial for their safety, aiming to prevent future disasters in the landslide-prone region.

“This is about ensuring a safer environment for your families. The government is committed to providing you with land and support to rebuild your lives,” she emphasized.

The relocation plan involves moving 242 families to Bulambuli, where the government has prepared land and will provide infrastructure for housing, farming, and essential services to ensure a smooth transition.

Bududa has experienced repeated landslides due to its steep terrain and heavy rainfall, making the area highly vulnerable.

This resettlement is part of a broader government strategy to provide long-term safety and stability for affected communities.

Minister Aber’s engagement with the locals aimed to address concerns and build consensus on the relocation process.

The government is hopeful that this initiative will mark a turning point in safeguarding lives from recurring natural disasters in the region.
