'Unqualified' brother of MP among three arrested in Iganga Hospital expose

The State House Health Monitoring Unit has arrested three top officials from Iganga hospital on allegations of corruption and causing financial loss to the government.
The arrested are senior medical superintendent Dauda Mugoya, senior accountant Micheal Isabirye and hospital administrator Ramathan Mugolofa.
The trio was arrested in the ongoing be investigations led by Dr Julian Nabatanzi and Dr Brian Arinaitwe in all health facilities in Busoga sub- region.
Despite causing financial loss to the district hospital, the unit established that the trio were unqualified to hold any of the jobs, wondering how the district administration recruited such individuals into sensitive positions.
"First of all, the Hospital Administrator and his accountant lack the minimum education levels in any field to occupy those offices," the unit said.
"When we realised that these people did not understand anything they were doing, we consulted with the human resource and indeed found out that they are unqualified for the jobs."
Authorities also said that from their background check on the the Hospital Administrator, it was discovered that he has been untouchable despite causing financial losses in the district from his previous positions.
This website has however established that Ramathan Mugolofa is a brother to the District Woman MP Saida Alibawo.
On top of forging documents which caused a financial loss of up to Shs150 million, the suspects are also being investigated for establishing illegal private rooms in the hospital, irregularities in deployment of nursing students, lack of medicine accountability and forgeries in fuel usage.
Apart from the three, State House questioned the hospital statistician and the person in charge of inventory for the hospital, who they claimed were also occupying space at the hospital without performing their duties.
The suspects are detained at Jinja Police station pending court appearance.
