The Buweekula County football team has arrived in Buvuma ahead of its highly anticipated Buganda Masaza Cup encounter against hosts Buvuma, with both teams confident of securing victory.
Buweekula began their campaign with a goalless draw against Kyaddondo at the NTC Grounds in Mubende, while Buvuma suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Busujju in their opening fixture.
As the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup enters another round of action this weekend, Buweekula travelled to Buvuma on Friday to complete preparations for Saturday's match. The team made the journey across Lake Victoria aboard MV Palm Uganda, taking approximately eight hours to reach their destination.
Speaking ahead of the match, Buweekula head coach Ibrahim Kyobe said his team is focused and determined to collect maximum points away from home.
"We have prepared well and the players are in good condition. We respect Buvuma, but our target is to return home with all three points," Kyobe said.
Team captain Patrick Kagulire expressed confidence in the squad, saying the players are motivated and ready for the challenge.
"The morale in camp is high. We know the importance of this game and we are going to give our best to make Buweekula proud," Kagulire said.
The team leadership has also appealed to supporters to continue backing the players throughout the tournament.
"We appreciate the support from our fans. Their encouragement gives the players confidence, and we urge them to continue standing with us," a team official said.
Supporters who travelled with the team expressed optimism that Buweekula would return home with a positive result.
"We have come to support our team and we believe they have what it takes to win this match," one supporter said.
However, Buvuma supporters remain confident that playing at home will give their team an advantage and warned the visitors to expect a difficult encounter.
"We are playing at home and we are ready for them. Buweekula should expect a tough contest," a Buvuma fan said.
Buweekula competes in the Bulange Group alongside Buvuma, Busujju, Kyaddondo, Buluuli and Buddu.
The Buganda Masaza Cup remains one of Uganda's most popular football tournaments, bringing together counties of the Buganda Kingdom and providing a platform for emerging talent across the region.
