SC Villa has been fined Shs1 million by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations following acts of hooliganism by its supporters during a Uganda Premier League match against Vipers earlier this month.
In rulings delivered on April 22 at Fufa House in Mengo, the federation’s disciplinary panel found Villa fans guilty of disorderly conduct during the April 15 fixture, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The panel determined that the supporters’ actions constituted hooliganism, in violation of Rule 48(9) of the Fufa Competitions Rules and Article 14(11) of the Fufa Ethics and Disciplinary Code.
Under Article 14(8), clubs are held accountable for the behaviour of their supporters.
“As a result, SC Villa has been fined Shs1 million payable within 14 days,” the ruling stated. “The club is further warned that any repeat offence will attract more severe sporting sanctions.”
The match was disrupted by chaotic scenes involving a section of Villa fans, with tensions escalating into confrontations in the stands.
Club president Omar Mandela was seen attempting to calm supporters as the situation threatened to spiral further.
In separate disciplinary decisions, Fufa also sanctioned Goldstar H/S Ladies for failing to honour a Fufa Women Elite League fixture against Lira City Queens on April 4.
The club forfeited the match and was handed a six-point and six-goal deduction.
Similarly, Mbale Heroes was penalised for failing to honour its Fufa Big League fixture against Kigezi Homeboyz on April 19.
The disciplinary panel dismissed the club’s explanation as unsubstantiated and imposed a three-point and three-goal deduction.
The latest rulings underscore Fufa’s ongoing push to tighten enforcement of competition regulations, particularly around fan conduct and fixture fulfilment, as it seeks to maintain order and integrity across domestic football competitions.
