Speaker Among orders immediate removal of pioneer buses parked at Namboole Stadium
The Speaker of Parliament, Anitah Among, has issued a directive for the immediate removal of the Pioneer buses parked at Namboole Stadium.
This action is necessary to create space and facilitate the ongoing renovation works.

The decision comes after Sports State Minister Peter Ogwang explained that the UPDF Engineering Brigade, the project contractor, faced difficulties finding parking due to the presence of the Pioneer buses.
Furthermore, a recent report by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) also highlighted the lack of parking as a significant issue.
During an inspection of the stadium's renovation works on Monday, Among emphasized the need to free up the space.
"You did not bring the buses here, you don't have a contract with the Uganda Land Commission (ULC), did they ask you for permission to lease out the land? We need vacant positions, and you must report to the House tomorrow," She stated
She added, "If we have a beautiful, smart stadium here, we no longer need scrap"
During a guided tour supervised by Ogwang, Speaker Among expressed her satisfaction with the renovation works carried out by the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineering Brigade.
She said, "I did not expect to see what I have found here; I want to tell the UPDF Engineering Brigade that I am extremely impressed with what they have done."
Speaker Among announced that Parliament would conduct a forensic audit to determine the amount of funds required to complete the project.
She also urged Hon Mpuuga to thoroughly inspect the facility and report to Parliament on areas that need improvement.
"We shall conduct a forensic audit to assess the amount of money we have spent on the project and determine the additional funds needed due to proposed variations," she stated.
Ogwang directed the contractors to complete all pending works and hand over the facility within two weeks, in preparation for the African Nations Championships (CHAN) competitions in June. The stadium is also part of Uganda's plans for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition in 2027.
With Shs80 billion already allocated for the project, the final works require a full payment of the appropriated Shs97 billion. Last week, Parliament urged Finance State Minister Hon Amos Lugoloobi to release the remaining Shs17.7 billion to ensure the completion of the works.
