Bari (not real name) did everything right. He went to good schools, graduated with a first-class degree in engineering, prepared thoroughly, and carried himself with confidence. By every expectation, life should have happened easily for him. But nothing worked. Opportunities slipped away. Interviews went well but did not yield anything and slowly, admiration turned into whispers of despise.
One day, a trusted and successful businessman sat him down and plainly told him that some situations, he believed, are not fixed by effort alone. When life is irresponsive to skill, education, and hard work, people begin to look for a covenant, not a strategy.
Throughout history, people have turned to sacrifices to mark serious moments and to seek help from whatever they believe is higher than themselves. In many traditional societies animals were offered when people wanted to dedicate a family, ask for protection, settle a matter, or mark a turning point in life. Blood was shed because it was seen as life being presented. Most, if not all, religions carry this idea in one way or another.
And even outside religion, this language has stayed with us. We still speak of “paying a price,” of “giving something of ourselves,” making sacrifices to secure a future we want. We sacrifice sleep, time with loved ones, personal needs for something we consider to be more important. It is like humanity has always sensed that the deepest changes in life will always cost something. Yet these sacrifices, whether ancient or modern, reflect humanity’s eternal quest to tap into powers yonder.
And this is what Jesus Christ came to turn around. Instead of humanity striving to reach God through repeated offerings, burnt and alive, God instead reached towards humanity first. He gave himself to die on the cross not just as another sacrifice, but a final one. To end this cycle of rituals, and to establish a permanent relationship between God and man, that no longer depended on human struggle.
This is what is remembered and celebrated in Holy Communion.
Holy Communion is more than bread, cup, or church ritual. It is a covenant moment, a way to reconnect with what Jesus already accomplished, through the pouring out of His blood.

In Jesus’ time, people were busy with what appeared urgent and important to them then. Some were building businesses. Some were planning families. Some were consumed by the politics of their day. Right in their neighbourhoods walked God in flesh, yet their attention was elsewhere. That has not changed much today. The world is full of noise; social media, screens and trends. Communion interrupts that noise and redirects us to where our life should be anchored. It reminds us that we are no longer defined by family patterns, personal history, or circumstances, but are bound to this supernatural covenant.
This service is important for everyone; leaders, students, professionals, those searching for clarity, meaning, or a genuine turn-around in life. It is a reconnection to the deal sealed in Jesus’ blood.
