The Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Judith Nabakooba has said that it is now almost impossible to trace new infections of COVID-19, and called for individual responsibility going forward.

Nabakooba said that that Uganda has transitioned to phase four of the Coronavirus pandemic, where the country is experiencing 'almost impossible to trace' widespread new community infections.

Nabakooba made these remarks while addressing the press on Monday afternoon.

"Your goal should be avoiding getting the virus because it is going to be impossible to have have everyine tested or even treated," Nabakooba said.

Nabakooba said that government, through the Ministry of Health and the National COVID-19 Task force prides itself in having delayed this stage for almost 7 months.

" Other countries in the region and elsewhere quickly transitioned into this phase immediately after the first cases were detected. The measures we implemented enabled us go buy time as we prepare for the more dangerous phase," she added.

Nabakooba said that the Ministry of Health is now coming up with measures that the county will follow in order to keep safe and urged every one to ensure compliance to the given Standard Operating Procedures as they go about with their daily routines.

The country is planning to reopen schools, airports, places of worship and an intensified election period which proves risky.

However, Nabakooba said that government decided another lockdown and urged everyone to focus on individual protection.
