Lubega Mukaaku was unfair to Mao, Bobi Wine and himself

2021 Elections Watch -->

Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku was on Tuesday defenestrated from National Unity Platform (NUP’s) Electoral Management Committee after being found guilty of promoting Democratic Party (DP) candidates, a party he quit.

The move by Bobi Wine to throw out Lubega marked yet another end to his political career, which by the way has never kicked off.

Lubega is that typical Ugandan who wants to be everywhere without committing anywhere, to enjoy only the benefits of his association without necessarily being responsible in the long run.

For a man who has been shady by looks and character, he always looks like he wants to run away from something even when he has just arrived.

In 2011, Mukaaku was a presidential aspirant and after he was nominated he described himself as a freedom fighter, democrat, and a federalist, said he had come to reconcile “our broken society.

Mukaaku of course lost the election and went on to break away from DP years later only to be asked back recently through different party reunions.

With Mukaaku’s return to the party, he immediately challenged Mao, labeling him an NRM mole and vowing to unseat him as DP president General.

Lubega’s reason for wanting to unseat Mao was that he needed to use the DP as a channel to advance the interests of Bobi Wine.

“Bobi Wine is a brainchild of the DP Bloc because the bloc is responsible for the formation of People Power. That is why I am assuming the role of a midwife to protect our newborn child from the Maos who want to strangle him,” Mukaaku stated.

Mukaaku’s fight to bring Bobi Wine in the picture while trashing Mao was a masterstroke, in other words, he was issuing a loud ‘come get me plea” to Bobi Wine and soon he was scouted and given a job in People Power.

The continuous indecisiveness and desire to double deal could not keep Mukaaku in NUP any longer and soon he was smoked out ironically promoting DP candidates!

When independent, Mukaaku promoted a message of no breakaways when he joined DP, he broke away, when he returned to DP he promoted NUP/People Power and when he went to People Power, he promoted DP.

Muhammad Nsereko would term Mukaaku’s behavior in politics as “political nkokonkulu”.

Who is this man who wants to be everywhere at the same time and yet remain nowhere? Why would Mukaaku for once not sit down and settle for whatever comes with his decision?

Well, he is just one of them for now, but Mukaaku’s behavior so far has been completely unfair to Mao, Bobi Wine and Mukaaku himself.
