Uganda to host conference on China South-South agricultural cooperation

Uganda is to host the 10th anniversary conference of the China South-South Cooperation which is aimed at enhancing technology and knowledge transfer between China and Africa.

The minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Vincent Ssempijja revealed that the conference will take place from 25th- 29th November, 2019 at Speke resort Munyonyo.

He said it is aimed at supporting the agricultural value chains for export to Chinese markets through technology, skills and knowledge transfer from China to Uganda.

Over 200 participants are expected to attend the conference.

Ssempijja noted that the forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) provides a framework through which both China and Africa can coordinate their economic, political, cultural and other aspects of their relations.

He said at the conference, members of the China South-South cooperation will also share specific objectives to highlight key results, impact, challenges and success stories over the last 10 years
