Court has pardoned twelve pupils who pleaded guilty to examination malpractice in Buikwe district.
While appearing before Njeru Grade One magistrate Immaculate Nyamwenge, the pupils, all minors, pleaded guilty to the offence of impersonation contrary to UNEB regulations.
Court heard that on November 4th, four students from different schools were found sitting Primary Leaving Examinations for pupils at Ssese Bugolo Primary School in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe district.
In their plea, the students revealed that they were duped by teachers but it wasn't their intention to engage in examination malpractices.
They revealed that each student who were ferried from Lugazi and was paid 80,000/= as facilitation.
In her ruling her ruling, Nyamwenge pardoned the minors but issued a stern warning to them.
According to Jinja Municipal Education officer Hassan Nkuutu the suspects were sitting exams for four candidates.
This prompted invigilators to alert police which swung into action and arrested the pupils.
They were detained at Nyenga Police Station before they were taken to Njeru Magistrate's court.
Earlier the parents of the affected candidates asked police to arrest the school authorities who were behind the scam instead of penalising their children have already missed their last examination papers.
