SSP Nixon charged with kidnap of another Rwandan national

The General Court Martial in Makindye has on Monday afternoon slapped fresh charges of kidnap  against the former commander of the Special Investigations Unit, Senior Superintendent of Police Nickson Agasiirwe Karuhanga, 47,together with Abdulnul Ssemuju alias Minana,59 ,a former police informer.

Prosecution alleges that the duo on August 13,2017 at Lukooli village in Luweero district kidnapped one Vincent Kaliisa before repatriating him back to Rwanda without his consent.

"While armed with fire arms and grenades ordinarily a preserve of the armed forces repatriated Kaliisa back to Rwanda contrary to section 239 and 242 of the Penal Code act,"Lt.Gen. Andrew Guti read.

Both suspects however denied the charges.

Earlier, the accused's lawyer Frank Kanduho told court that his clients could not take plea because the charge sheet was not detailed in regards to the country of origin of the victim of the kidnap.

There was a heated argument between him and Lt.Gen. Guti but later the impasse was solved when the state prosecutors led by May . Raphael Mugisha accepted to ammend the chargesheet.

Minana was arrested two weeks ago from Nabweru, a Kampala suburb by Chieftaincy of Military Investigations before being detained in Mbuya.

Agasiirwe faces earlier kidnap charges slapped against him  for kidnap of Lt.Joel Mutabazi who was a former bodyguard to Rwandan president Paul Kagame.

Prosecution alleges that on 25th October 2013 at Kammengo, in Mpigi district along Masaka road, the accused using a pistol and grenades abducted Lt. Joel Mutabaazi  and Jackson  Kalemera  whom they took  back to Rwanda without their knowledge contrary to the Penal Code Act.
