Police brass band extends wings to Lango

The Uganda Police brass band has opened up a new branch in Lango sub region.

The function to launch the Uganda Police brass band branch for Lango was  held at Coronation Grounds in Lira Municipality.

Speaking at the function, AIGP Asan Kasingye, the Chief Political Commissar, handed over brand new music equipment to the Regional Police Commander, SSP Peter Nkulega adding that the band will go a long way in enforcing community policing.

"The purpose of launching this music, dance and drama band is to help in all the activities of the Chief Political Commissar. It will help in ideological grounding of the public working hand in hand with the police to prevent crime and also deal with ideological orientation of the police officers,"Kasingye said.

"Through the band, we can have effective information and publication since it’s a tool in mobilising the public."

Superintendent of Police, Stephen Okwi Okedi , who is the acting Commissioner in charge of the Police Band said that taking band services to regional levels will help reduce on the costs of transportation of band equipment from the headquarters to different areas.

He emphasised that the regional band will offer the same services like the national band.
