15 schools confirmed for the 2019 UMEA games

The seventh edition of the Uganda Muslim Education Association games (UMEA) schools games has been launched on March 18th, 2019 at Kibuli Senior Secondary School.

This year’s UMEA games will be held at Kasawo SS and they will run from 19 – 22 of this month.

15 schools have so far confirmed participation in this year’s edition. The aim of hosting these games is to promote sport as a unifying factor because it builds harmony and brotherhood in society under the Muslim foundation among other objectives.

Both boys and girls will compete in different sports disciplines that include football, netball, volleyball, handball, and racket games.

Famous players like former Uganda Cranes skipper and current New York Red Bulls assistant Ibrahim Ssekagya, Uganda cranes forward Farouk Miya among others are some of the graduates of the UMEA solidarity awards.

Kibuli is the overall defending champions of last year’s edition held in Mpooma.

Schools that have confirmed participation

Kibuli S.S, hosts Kasawo Islamic, Kasawo S.S, Gombe, Kawempe Muslim, Mbogo High, Mbogo Mixed, Kakungulu Memorial, Amity, Wagga High (Masaka), Bulo Parents, Nkoma S.S (Mbale) among others.
