Striking medics under their umbrella body the Uganda Medical Association have brushed off threats to have them sacked insisting no amount of intimidation will force the medics back to work

Speaking to journalists from mulago guest house in Kampala, the association’s head of ethics committee Dr Frank Asimwe made it clear that that only negotiations will help end a strike that has paralysed the health sector

The president while speaking in Burahya County in Kabarole District threatened to sack all the striking doctors and replace them with those desperate for jobs

The medics also announced the formation of a legal committee to help their colleagues being forced out of hospital quarters as they move to stop what they call attempts by RDCS to intimidate doctors on strike
