The appointment was announced on Wednesday, with the party expressing confidence that Wadri's experience in public service and opposition politics would help strengthen its organisational structures and advance its agenda of transforming Uganda's political culture.
"We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kassiano Wadri as the party's National Coordinator," ANT said in a statement.
"We congratulate Wadri on this important responsibility and wish him success as he leads the team in transforming the political culture of our country, Uganda," the party added.
ANT president Gen Mugisha Muntu described Wadri as a leader whose decades of public service would help steer the party through its next phase of growth.
"Kassiano Wadri brings with him a lifetime of service and commitment to the nation that will no doubt spur the party forward in the right direction," Muntu said.
He also paid tribute to outgoing National Coordinator Alice Alaso, crediting her leadership with expanding ANT's national presence.
"I also thank Alaso for her steadfast leadership. Under her, we got our first MP, increased our local government footprint and strengthened our party structures," Muntu said.
Muntu said leadership transitions should be embraced as a normal feature of democratic politics rather than becoming a source of division.
"Change of political leadership should never be an acrimonious undertaking. And the only way for us to achieve this as a nation is to practise it in our politics, from the grassroots up. We must develop a culture that puts the country first and the good of our people before personal ambition," he said.
He added that ANT was determined to build a political culture anchored in peaceful leadership transitions and service to the national interest.
"The Alliance for National Transformation is developing that culture, demonstrating that if we choose to, we as a nation can defy the politics of our past and build a Uganda that works for all of us," Muntu said.
Wadri served as MP for Terego County for three consecutive terms between 2001 and 2016 on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket. During his time in Parliament, he served as the Opposition Chief Whip and chaired the influential Public Accounts Committee, where he became known for his oversight of public expenditure.
He returned to Parliament in 2018 after winning the Arua Municipality by-election as an independent candidate while in detention on treason charges following violence during the campaign period.
The incident also led to the arrest of National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
The charges against Wadri and his co-accused were later dropped.
Wadri subsequently joined ANT and has since played an active role in building the party's structures, particularly in the West Nile sub-region.
