Nakalema pays tribute to father's legacy, urges fathers to be present in children's lives
Col. Edith Nakalema has honoured the legacy of her late father, Rev. Eliasaph Sserwadda, through the launch of her book My Father and I, calling on fathers to play an active role in raising their children and instilling values that shape future generations.

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema, has called on parents, especially fathers, to take an active role in raising their children, saying parental presence and guidance are essential in shaping responsible future generations.

Col. Nakalema made the appeal during the launch of her book, My Father and I, a tribute to her late father, Rev. Eliasaph Sserwadda, whose values of faith, discipline and intentional parenting, she said, profoundly influenced both her personal and professional life.

Speaking at the launch held at Protea Hotel in Kampala, Col. Nakalema described her father as a God-fearing man who devoted his life to serving his family, the Church and the wider community.

"Fathers need to be present in the lives of their children because the values they instil continue to shape generations beyond their own lifetime," Col. Nakalema said.

The Vice President, Jessica Alupo, who was the guest of honour, congratulated Col. Nakalema on documenting her father's legacy and encouraged her to preserve family unity while passing on the values she inherited to her own children.

Other speakers, including former Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi, Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu and Gen. Henry Tumukunde, emphasised the importance of raising children with strong moral values, faith and discipline, saying a lasting legacy begins within the family.

"Parents must teach children to fear God and give them a foundation of values that will guide them throughout their lives," Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu said.

The launch celebrated the life and legacy of Rev. Eliasaph Sserwadda, whose commitment to faith, family and community service continues to inspire many.

Rev. Eliasaph Sserwadda passed away on February 8, 2025, at the age of 75.
