President Museveni will address Ugandans on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in a national broadcast expected to focus on matters of national importance, the Presidential Press Unit (PPU) has announced.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, by the State House, confirming the President’s address scheduled for 8:00pm.
“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) wishes to inform the general public that the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will address the nation on Saturday, 4 July 2026, on matters of national importance at 8:00 PM,” the statement read.
State House said the address will be broadcast live across all major radio and television stations, as well as online platforms, ensuring nationwide access to the communication.
“The address will be broadcast live on all major radio and television stations, as well as online platforms, across the country,” the PPU added.
Although the statement did not specify the exact issues to be addressed, such national addresses are typically used to communicate policy updates, respond to emerging national challenges, or clarify government positions on key developments.
The announcement has sparked public speculation over what the President may focus on during the prime-time address, coming at a time of heightened political and economic discussion in the country.
The communication also comes amid continued social media trolling directed at the President’s recent online video posts.
In recent engagements on his social media platforms, Museveni has noted that a significant portion of comments on his videos are critical or abusive, with users often engaging in mocking remarks and sarcastic responses, including repeated questions about Ugandans’ political participation in India.
Despite the online reactions, the President has maintained an active presence on digital platforms alongside traditional national addresses as part of his public communication strategy.
State House is expected to release further details ahead of Saturday’s address as anticipation builds around the national communication.
Ugandans are expected to tune in at 8:00pm on Saturday across radio, television and online platforms for the live broadcast.
