Kigezi HomeBoyz have appointed experienced Ugandan coach Joseph Harold Mutyaba as their new head coach ahead of their maiden season in the Uganda Premier League.
The club confirmed on Wednesday that Mutyaba has signed a two-year contract and will immediately take charge of preparations for their historic top-flight campaign.
His appointment comes at a critical moment for the Kabale-based side, which recently earned promotion and will compete in Uganda’s highest football division for the first time in its history.
Mutyaba brings more than two decades of coaching experience in Ugandan football, having worked with several clubs across different levels of the game.
He has previously managed Soltilo Bright Stars, Tooro United, Onduparaka, Entebbe, Lweza and Masavu among others, building a reputation as one of the country’s most travelled coaches.
Before joining Kigezi HomeBoyz, the CAF A licensed tactician was in charge of Malindi Sports Club in Zanzibar.
His coaching record includes helping Lweza FC secure promotion to the Regional League, guiding Kabale Good Samaritan FC to the FUFA Big League, and contributing to improved league performances at BUL FC during his time as assistant coach.
As a player, Mutyaba featured for Express FC, SC Villa and URA FC before playing professionally abroad in Oman and Vietnam.
He holds CAF A, CAF B and CAF C coaching licences, credentials that have strengthened his profile as one of Uganda’s experienced football minds.
Kigezi HomeBoyz say they believe the veteran tactician is the right man to guide the club through its debut Uganda Premier League season as they aim to establish themselves among the country’s elite sides.
