Ecobank Uganda has appointed prominent lawyer and corporate governance expert David Frederick Kisitu Mpanga as the new chairperson of its Board of Directors.
His appointment was confirmed on Thursday in a statement issued by the bank.
“The Board, Management, and Staff of Ecobank Uganda Limited extend our warmest congratulations to Mr. David Frederick Kisitu Mpanga on his appointment as Chairperson, Board of Directors,” the bank said.
The lender added that it looks forward to his leadership in strengthening its strategic direction, innovation agenda and long-term value creation.
Mpanga, a Senior Partner and founder of AF Mpanga Advocates, is widely regarded in Uganda’s legal and governance circles, with extensive experience in dispute resolution, regulatory compliance and corporate advisory work.
According to his professional profile, he serves as Head of Dispute Resolution at the firm and is a barrister of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. He began his legal career in the United Kingdom, working in criminal litigation before returning to Uganda in 1998, where he later founded AF Mpanga Advocates.
He holds an LLB (Hons) from University of Exeter and has built a reputation advising both local and international clients on complex commercial disputes, corporate governance and strategic transactions.
Mpanga’s appointment comes as Ecobank Uganda seeks to deepen its governance structures and strengthen oversight in a competitive banking environment, with a focus on sustainable growth and customer-centric innovation.
Ecobank Uganda said it expects his experience to play a key role in guiding the institution’s next phase of growth and transformation across the country.
