Prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Umar Swidiq Ndawula has urged Muslims to strengthen their faith through Quran memorization, timely payment of Zakat and constant gratitude to Allah, saying these practices are essential for spiritual growth and a fulfilling Islamic life.
Speaking during his weekly Darasa at Masjid Aldina Namayiba in Kampala on Tuesday, Sheikh Ndawula delivered a message centred on six key principles that he said every Muslim should embrace in daily life.
The scholar, whose teachings are widely followed through Salam TV Uganda and AfroMobile platforms, emphasized that belief in the Oneness of Allah remains the cornerstone of the Islamic faith and should guide all aspects of a Muslim's conduct.
Addressing the congregation, Sheikh Ndawula encouraged Muslims to faithfully fulfil their obligation of paying Zakat at the end of each year, describing it as both an act of worship and a means of purifying wealth.
He reminded believers that wealth should be used responsibly and in accordance with Islamic teachings.
"Make good out of the wealth God has provided for you," he told worshippers, urging them to use their resources in ways that benefit their families, communities and faith.
The cleric also highlighted the importance of Quran memorization, calling upon parents to actively support their children in learning and memorizing the Holy Quran.
According to Sheikh Ndawula, nurturing children in Islamic teachings not only strengthens their religious foundation but also earns lasting rewards for parents.
He described investment in Quranic education as one of the most valuable legacies families can leave for future generations.
The scholar further called on Muslims, particularly the elderly, to cultivate a spirit of gratitude towards Allah for the blessings they receive throughout their lives.
He noted that gratitude strengthens faith, promotes contentment and helps believers remain mindful of God's mercy and guidance.
Sheikh Ndawula also encouraged Muslims to make the most of the opportunities presented by the Islamic calendar, urging worshippers to increase acts of devotion, charity and remembrance of Allah during significant periods of the year.
Over the years, Sheikh Ndawula has gained prominence through religious teachings, public lectures and community discussions aimed at deepening understanding of Islam and addressing contemporary issues affecting Muslim communities.
His programmes on Salam TV and AfroMobile have attracted a wide audience both within Uganda and beyond, making him one of the country's most recognizable Islamic scholars.
The weekly Tuesday Darasa at Masjid Aldina Namayiba continues to attract large numbers of worshippers seeking religious guidance, spiritual growth and a stronger connection with their faith.
Participants say the sessions provide an opportunity not only to learn about Islamic teachings but also to engage with fellow believers and strengthen community bonds.
As the gathering concluded, Sheikh Ndawula reiterated his call for Muslims to remain steadfast in faith, support Quranic education, fulfil their charitable obligations and continually thank Allah for His blessings.
