The tour showcased the impact of wealth creation initiatives championed by President Yoweri Museveni through the ONC, with beneficiaries crediting the programmes for increasing household incomes, creating employment opportunities and strengthening local economies.
Among those who shared their experiences was Balwanyi Jane, who said support from the ONC enabled her to establish a successful poultry farming enterprise.
Jane explained that she initially received 200 chickens through an ONC empowerment programme and gradually expanded the flock to 500 birds through proper management and reinvestment. However, she said her family's progress was temporarily disrupted when her husband fell ill last year, forcing them to sell part of the flock to meet medical expenses.
Despite the setback, she currently keeps more than 400 chickens and remains optimistic about the future of the business.
"I thank President Museveni, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo and the ONC team for empowering us. The support has greatly improved our livelihood and enabled us to generate income for our family," Jane said.
She appealed to government to address water shortages in the area, saying the challenge continues to affect both residents and farmers.
Another beneficiary, Senabulya Michael, a farmer from Nakaseke Saza Zone, attributed his success in agriculture to support received through the ONC.
Senabulya, who owns more than a hectare of coffee, said he earns between Shs7 million and Shs8 million monthly from coffee sales. He has also diversified into poultry farming, fish farming, tomato growing and other agricultural enterprises.
He revealed that three years ago he received 200 chicks and 15 sacks of poultry feed through an ONC programme, which helped him establish a commercial poultry project.
Inspired by President Museveni's wealth creation message, Senabulya later ventured into fish farming. Starting with about 200 fish, he has expanded to more than 4,000 fish in two ponds.
"Last week I harvested and sold over 400 fish. Every six months, I sell more than 500 fish at Shs15,000 each," he said.
The farmer currently employs five workers, contributing to job creation within the community.
However, he identified shortages of fish nets, fish feed and poultry feed as some of the key challenges affecting the growth of his enterprises.
While interacting with beneficiaries, Namyalo pledged to engage relevant government agencies, including Operation Wealth Creation and the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, to mobilise additional support and agricultural inputs for farmers.
She encouraged beneficiaries to make productive use of government assistance and remain committed to wealth creation initiatives aimed at improving household incomes.
"Government empowerment programmes are meant to transform lives. We encourage beneficiaries to remain committed, hardworking and focused on creating sustainable sources of income," Namyalo said.
The tour also highlighted the success of Nabitaka Ruth and Nantambi Rose, who transformed a single sewing machine received during a youth empowerment event at Kasala Parish Playground in Luwero District into a growing tailoring business.
The two entrepreneurs said the sewing machine enabled them to start generating income, eventually allowing them to purchase a second machine and expand their operations.
Today, their business supplies school uniforms under various contracts, produces garments for individual clients and employs six workers. The enterprise has also become a training centre where young people acquire tailoring skills.
"We started working from home, but today we operate from rented premises and our business continues to grow. We are grateful to President Museveni and Hajjat Namyalo for giving us this opportunity," they said.
The pair appealed for an embroidery machine to increase production capacity and enable them to compete for larger contracts.
The ONC empowerment tour continues across the Greater Luwero sub-region, highlighting the experiences of beneficiaries who say government interventions have enabled them to grow businesses, create jobs and improve household welfare.
Namyalo reaffirmed the Office of the National Chairman's commitment to monitoring beneficiaries, addressing challenges affecting productivity and ensuring that government empowerment programmes continue to transform lives across the country.
