The High Court in Kampala has acquitted, Ivan Katongole, the key suspect in the infamous women murders in Entebbe and Nansana areas of Wakiso district.
Over 20 women were murdered in Wakiso areas in an almost similar manner by unknown assailants who first raped them, strangled them and later insert sticks in their private parts.
On Thursday, Justice Wilson Kwesigwa acquitted Katongole and two co-accused of the murder of women in Wakiso saying there was no evidence to link them to the murder.

“The police witnesses only proved there was death but they didn’t link the suspects to the death,” Justice Kwesiga said.
He blasted the DPP’s office for continuing with the case yet they knew there was no evidence against the accused.
“The prosecution was in bad faith because the DPP’s office very well knew they had no evidence to pin the accused but went ahead and charged them with the offences which was a wastage of time and resources,” the judge added.
Katongole, a businessman dealing in exportation of fish was charged jointly with Hellen Nabagala and Andrew Kizito for the murder of a one Rose Nakimuli who was a hair dresser at Mpala village whose decomposing body was found in a banana plantation.
