Today, the committee, chaired by the Minister for Local government in Buganda Kingdom Joseph Kawuki, inspected two churches of Watoto Ministries in Bweyogerere and Kyengera as part of the process of identifying a venue capable of hosting the event in a manner that reflects the dignity of the Buganda Kingdom and adequately represents Watoto Ministries.
According to the committee, both venues met the standards required to host the royal celebration.
Speaking after the inspection, Minister Kawumi commended Watoto Ministries for the warm reception and the quality of the facilities.
“We are impressed by the excellent preparations, the spacious grounds, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the efforts made to preserve the environment. These are important considerations for an event of this magnitude,” he said.
He noted that the committee was encouraged by the conducive environment provided for worshippers at Watoto churches.
“The Kabaka greatly values the well-being of his people. What we have seen here demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that people worship and gather in a comfortable and dignified environment, which is a key consideration as we prepare for this celebration,” Kawuki added.
He also called upon the Kabaka’s subjects from all clans, faiths, organizations, and particularly the born-again Christian community, to participate actively in the celebrations scheduled for 31 July.
“I urge all the Kabaka’s chiefs, from grassroots leaders to county chiefs, to ensure that the resolutions and preparations announced by the committee are implemented, especially those aimed at mobilizing people and preparing for the anniversary celebrations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Robby Muhumuza, a leader at Watoto Church Kyengera, welcomed the opportunity to partner with the Kingdom in hosting the event.
“We are honored to be considered for such an important responsibility and we pledge to organize an event that meets the expectations of the Buganda Kingdom,” Muhumuza said.
He further encouraged Watoto pastors and congregations across the ministry’s various branches to spread the message and participate in the celebrations.
On behalf of county chiefs, Sebwana Charles Kiberu Kisiriiza reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a successful event.
“As county leaders, we are committed to working together to organize celebrations that will bring honor and pride to the Kingdom,” Kisiriiza said.
The final decision regarding the venue for the 33rd Coronation Anniversary celebrations will be made during a forthcoming meeting of the organizing committee.
