Kabale Races to Complete Projects Ahead of National Assessment

Kabale District leaders have sounded the alarm on unfinished government projects and weak local revenue collection as the district enters the final month of the Financial Year 2025/2026.

The concerns emerged during a meeting of the District Technical Planning Committee (DTPC) at the District Council Hall, where officials reviewed the performance of departments and sub-counties ahead of the close of the financial year.

The meeting focused on progress made on capital development projects, local revenue collection, and the district's performance in the latest national assessments.

Opening the session, Chief Administrative Officer Robert Mugabe said departments must move quickly to complete outstanding activities and account for all funds before the financial year ends.

"We are now in the last month of the financial year, which means we have numerous activities that must be concluded. All departments need to ensure that pending activities are completed and accounted for," Mugabe said.

He warned that delays in project implementation and accountability could affect the district's standing in future national assessments.

Mugabe also tasked departments to strengthen local revenue assessment and collection efforts, describing locally generated revenue as a critical pillar for service delivery and district development.

During the meeting, officials received and discussed findings from the FY 2024/2025 National Assessment and the FY 2024/2025 National Validated Assessment, with the results expected to guide improvements in planning, project execution and governance.

The review comes at a crucial time for the district, as government entities across the country rush to conclude planned activities, clear accountability requirements and improve performance indicators before the end of the financial year on June 30.

District leaders expressed hope that the review will help departments close existing gaps, complete pending projects and improve Kabale's performance in future national evaluations.
