Youth Wealth Creation leads Nakawa Market clean-up ahead of Museveni swearing-in
Youth groups under Youth Wealth Creation have carried out a clean-up exercise at Nakawa Market in Kampala as part of nationwide activities marking President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Tuesday at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Youth Wealth Creation teams drawn from the five divisions of Kampala have conducted a community clean-up exercise at Nakawa Market as part of preparations for President Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony set for Tuesday at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The activity brought together youth participants and market stakeholders in an effort to improve sanitation and readiness ahead of the national event, which will see President Museveni take oath for another term in office.

The National Coordinator of Youth Wealth Creation, Ndase, said the initiative was part of activities marking the inauguration scheduled for May 12, 2026.

Ndase explained that the group was inspired by the President’s emphasis on health and productivity, saying a clean environment contributes to a more effective and productive population.

“A country with healthy citizens functions better, and it becomes easier for a leader to implement development programs. That is why we have come out to clean and demonstrate that we are ready to live in a healthy environment and work hard,” he said.

He further urged Ugandans across the country to turn up in large numbers at Kololo on Tuesday to witness the swearing-in ceremony.

The Nakawa Market chairperson, Joel Isabirye, welcomed the initiative, commending the youth group for contributing to sanitation efforts within the market.

He said such collaborations support the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) vision of a cleaner and more livable urban environment.

“As KCCA, this year we are operating under the theme ‘A Livable City.’ Therefore, when we see our colleagues joining us in such initiatives, it is something worth celebrating together because it helps fulfill the vision of creating a conducive working environment for people,” Isabirye said.

He also encouraged vendors and traders at Nakawa Market to attend the swearing-in ceremony and praised government efforts that he said had improved the management of markets in the city.

Isabirye noted that traders now have more stable working spaces and encouraged those still operating outside designated areas to relocate into gazetted markets.

Other participants, led by Charles Mukisa from Youth Wealth Creation, congratulated President Museveni ahead of the inauguration and called for continued focus on key national challenges in the new term.

They cited issues such as corruption, healthcare delivery, and unemployment, urging government to prioritize solutions as the new term begins.
