A delegation of young Ugandan Sheikhs has congratulated Salam TV and Salam Charity Managing Director Hajj Karim Kaliisa following his award of the Diamond Jubilee Medal during the 2026 International Labour Day celebrations held at Nkoyoyo Boarding Primary School grounds in Buikwe District.

The delegation, led by Sheikh Zubaddu (Abdallah Ssali), Sheikh Arkam Tamusuza, and Hafidhu Huzaifah Walukaga, visited Kaliisa’s office to express appreciation for what they described as his consistent mentorship and contribution to community development.

The Sheikhs said the national honour was well deserved, citing his extensive outreach work and inclusive support to communities across the country.

“Because of Hajji Karim Kaliisa’s mentorship and the opportunities he has given us to appear on media stations under his influence, including Voice of Africa, Pearl of Africa, and Salam TV, we have become known to the public,” the delegation noted.

They added that platforms under his leadership have played a key role in elevating young Muslim scholars and promoting community development initiatives.

The delegation also extended appreciation to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for recognising Kaliisa with the Diamond Jubilee Medal, describing it as encouragement for continued service.

In his response, Hajj Karim Kaliisa said the award was not an individual achievement but a reflection of collective effort from all those he works with.

“There is nothing that I do alone. It’s the collective effort between me, my staff at Salam TV and Salam Charity, all Muslim leaders in Uganda, and everyone in the country who contributes to our development projects,” he said.

Kaliisa added that the recognition serves as motivation to intensify his efforts in service delivery.

“I realized that the medal informs us to double the effort and work even harder, because the country needs our services more than ever. We promise to keep serving with one heart, and we request everyone to join us to serve humanity,” he said.

The Diamond Jubilee Medal is among Uganda’s national honours awarded to individuals recognised for distinguished service to the nation.
