Police in Wakiso District have launched investigations into a violent robbery incident captured in a video that has since gone viral on social media, showing a group of men attacking an individual with pangas.

According to police, the incident occurred on June 15, 2026, at about 2:00 a.m. in Kigwanya Zone, Nabbingo Parish, Kyengera Town Council.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was returning home from work with his girlfriend and heading to their residence in Kigwanya Zone when they were reportedly ambushed by a group of about seven men armed with pangas.

The attackers allegedly robbed the victim of his belongings before fleeing the scene.

In a statement, police said officers at Nsangi Police Division had taken up the matter and commenced investigations aimed at identifying and arresting the suspects.

"Our task team is doing everything within its means to identify, trace and arrest the suspects so that they can be brought to justice," police said.

The viral video, which has sparked concern among social media users, shows a group of men assaulting an individual, raising fresh concerns about violent robberies and public safety in parts of Wakiso District.
