Lady Justice Olive Kazaarwe Takes Helm of Women Judges Association

The International Association of Women Judges – Uganda Chapter (IAWJ-UC) has elected a new leadership team following a successful Elective Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, marking a renewed commitment to advancing justice and service within the judiciary.

Lady Justice Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya was elevated from Vice President to President, succeeding into the Association’s top leadership role. She will be deputized by Lady Justice Joyce Kavuma, who was elected Vice President.

In her acceptance remarks, Lady Justice Mukwaya noted the Association’s core values of service, sacrifice, and dedication. She noted that leadership within IAWJ-UC is grounded in a passion for serving vulnerable communities rather than personal gain.

Lady Justice Mukwaya expressed confidence in the newly elected Executive Committee, describing its members as experienced and capable leaders ready to advance the Association’s mission.

The newly elected office bearers include Lady Justice Elizabeth Jane Alividza as International Director, Dorothy Lwanga as Treasurer, Stella Amabilis as Assistant Treasurer, Roselyn Nsenge as General Secretary, Pamela Bomukama as Assistant General Secretary, Rehema Nassozi Ssebbowa as Publicity Secretary, Dr. Irene Namae as Assistant Publicity Secretary, and Fortunate Kamukama as Representative of Founder Members.

The Annual General Meeting concluded on a celebratory note, featuring a performance by renowned Ugandan comedian Anne Kansiime, followed by a lively dance session that fostered camaraderie among members.

Supreme Court: Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke and Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire.

Court of Appeal: Lady Justice Eva Luswata, Lady Justice Florence Nakachwa Dollo, and Lady Justice Cornelia Sabiti.

High Court: Lady Justice Anna Mugenyi, Lady Justice Susan Abinyo, and Lady Justice Ida Nakiganda.

Registrars: Zulaika Nanteza and Sarah Tusiime.

Chief Magistrates: Marion Ninsiima, Winfred Kyobiika, and Hope Bagyenda.

Magistrates: Patience Koburunga, Christine Turibamwe, and Rehmur Namwanje.

The newly elected team is expected to build on the Association’s legacy of promoting gender equality, judicial excellence, and access to justice across Uganda.
