The Archbishop of the Orthodox Church in Uganda, Jeronymos Muzeeyi, has paid tribute to the late Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament Helen Nakimuli, describing her as a dedicated servant of both the Church and her constituents.
Delivering his condolence message at St Nicholas Orthodox Church Namungoona, Archbishop Muzeeyi praised Nakimuli for her commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and her active involvement in church programmes.
“Nakimuli made a significant contribution to the Orthodox Church and always stood up for those who were being marginalized,” he said.
The Archbishop also extended condolences to her family, particularly her father, Rev. Fr. Christopher Walusimbi, noting the close bond he shared with the deceased and the Kalangala community she represented.
According to Muzeeyi, Nakimuli was a disciplined and law-abiding leader who remained deeply engaged in the affairs of the Orthodox faith.
“She was disciplined and deeply involved in the affairs of the Church,” he added.
He further described her as a trusted voice in both religious and national leadership, saying many had high expectations for her continued role in Parliament.
“She was a voice we trusted and had great expectations in, especially in national leadership,” Muzeeyi noted.
The Archbishop announced that a special memorial prayer service will be held in her honour on April 23 at Namungoona Orthodox Church, as the Orthodox community joins the nation in mourning her passing.
