Adeke Named FDC Chief Whip in Parliament
The Forum for Democratic Change has appointed Anna Adeke as its new Chief Whip in Parliament, replacing Yusuf Nsibambi, who defected to the National Resistance Movement earlier this year.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has appointed Anna Adeke as its new Chief Whip in Parliament.

The appointment was communicated during a plenary sitting, formally confirming a change in the party’s parliamentary leadership structure.

Adeke replaces Yusuf Nsibambi, who crossed from the FDC to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in February 2026.

Nsibambi, a former senior figure in the FDC parliamentary caucus, left the opposition earlier this year, reducing the party’s representation in key leadership positions within the House.

Adeke, a vocal and youthful legislator, now takes over responsibility for coordinating FDC positions in Parliament, maintaining party discipline among MPs, and serving as a key link between the party leadership and its parliamentary caucus.

Her appointment is expected to strengthen the party’s internal coordination and sharpen its response to legislative debates as Parliament continues its work.

Political observers say the change reflects both ongoing adjustments within opposition structures and a broader trend of leadership renewal, with younger legislators taking on more prominent roles.

The FDC leadership will be relying on Adeke to consolidate its parliamentary presence and ensure cohesion among its remaining legislators.
