Next Media Named Platinum Sponsor as Kampala City Festival Rebuilds Momentum After Eight-Year Hiatus
Next Media has been recognised by Kampala Capital City Authority for its role in amplifying the return of the Kampala City Festival, highlighting the growing importance of broadcast and digital platforms in shaping national cultural events.

Next Media has been recognised as a Platinum Sponsor of the Kampala City Festival 2025, marking its contribution to the successful return of one of Kampala’s most anticipated public celebrations.

The recognition was announced during a partners’ appreciation engagement hosted by the Kampala Capital City Authority at City Hall, where organisations that supported the revival of the festival were acknowledged.

The Kampala City Festival returned in 2025 after an eight-year break, drawing participation from institutions across sectors including banking, telecommunications, tourism, manufacturing, and media. The event was positioned as a platform to reconnect the city through culture, creativity, and community engagement.

Next Media played a central role in extending the festival’s reach beyond physical attendance. Through its television platforms, audiences across the country were able to follow live performances, cultural showcases, and key highlights from the event.

Its digital platforms further amplified the experience, enabling real-time engagement and allowing audiences who were not physically present to participate in the celebrations as they unfolded.

This integrated coverage ensured that the festival was not confined to Kampala’s streets but became a shared national moment, accessible to audiences across different locations.

The recognition underscores the growing role of media in shaping how large-scale public events are experienced, particularly in an era where digital access continues to expand audience reach.

It also reflects the importance of sustained storytelling in documenting and elevating moments that celebrate identity, creativity, and urban culture.

The engagement at City Hall also pointed to future ambitions for the festival. The Kampala Capital City Authority indicated it is working with partners to strengthen the 2026 edition, with plans to further expand participation and return the event fully to the streets of Kampala.

Next Media signalled its intention to continue supporting the initiative, leveraging its experience in broadcasting and digital storytelling to contribute to the festival’s next phase.

As Kampala continues to position itself as a centre for culture and innovation, collaborations between public institutions and media organisations are expected to play a key role in shaping how such events are delivered and experienced.
