Standard Chartered, Salam TV Extend Ramathan Support to Schools with Food Aid

A partnership between Standard Chartered Bank Uganda, Salam TV, and Salam Charity has provided food relief to several educational institutions as part of ongoing Ramadan outreach efforts.

The initiative reached institutions including Jakayz Secondary School, Namasuba College of Commerce, and Asiyah Kids Academy, among others, with packages intended to support both students and staff observing the fasting period.

The distributed items included key household staples such as rice, sugar, salt, cooking oil, wheat flour, and maize flour.

Margaret Kigozi, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand, and Marketing at Standard Chartered Bank Uganda, said the programme reflects the bank’s broader approach to community engagement and sustainable impact.

“This initiative is central to how we do business,” Kigozi said. “We believe in standing with communities and making a positive difference.”

Organisers say the collaboration builds on an established relationship between the partners, with previous efforts targeting vulnerable populations across different regions. This year’s focus on schools was designed to support learning environments while reinforcing values of care and shared responsibility.

Sheikh Mustafah Mutuuhe, Operations Manager at Salam TV, said the partnership has evolved into a consistent platform for outreach, particularly during Ramadan.

He noted that directing support to educational institutions was both strategic and symbolic.

“Serving humanity is a responsibility for everyone and is highly rewarded by the Almighty,” Mutuuhe said, adding that the initiative aims to inspire both beneficiaries and the wider community.

Beneficiaries welcomed the support, noting that the assistance helps ease the burden on institutions that often struggle to meet the needs of students during the fasting period.

The programme reflects a broader trend in Uganda where private sector institutions and faith-based organisations are increasingly aligning efforts to deliver targeted social support, particularly during significant religious seasons.
