Two Killed in Bus-Noah Collision on Mbarara–Bushenyi Road
Two people died instantly and several others were critically injured in a head-on collision between a Tausi Bus and a Toyota Noah at Kantojo Village in Bushenyi District.

Two people have been confirmed dead following a road accident on Thursday evening along the Mbarara–Bushenyi highway at Kantojo Village in Rwentuha Town Council, Bushenyi District.

The crash involved a Tausi Bus, registration number UA707AK, and a Toyota Noah, registration number UA196AY.

Witnesses reported that the Toyota Noah, traveling toward Mbarara, lost control before colliding head-on with the bus, which was heading toward Ishaka.

Both occupants of the Toyota Noah died instantly at the scene, while several other passengers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to KIU Hospital for emergency treatment.

Acting Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa confirmed the incident and said police had begun investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.

“We received information about a fatal accident that happened this evening at Kantojo Village involving a Tausi Bus and a Toyota Noah. Unfortunately, two people lost their lives on the spot, while several others sustained serious injuries and were taken to KIU Hospital for treatment,” SP Tayebwa said.

He added that traffic officers quickly responded to the scene and are gathering further details.

“Our team is already on the ground to ascertain the cause of the accident. We urge all road users to observe traffic regulations and avoid reckless driving to prevent such tragic incidents,” he said.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kabwohe Health Centre IV mortuary for postmortem examination.

Authorities have reiterated calls for motorists to exercise caution on busy highways to reduce the increasing number of road accidents in the region.
