The publication of his name in the Uganda Gazette formalizes his mandate following a competitive election in which he secured 12,943 votes, defeating his closest rival, Vicent Nyanzi, who garnered 11,590 votes, alongside four other aspirants.
Running on the ticket of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Kalwanga’s re-election marks his third consecutive term in Parliament, having first entered the House in 2016. His victory underscores sustained grassroots mobilization and what supporters describe as consistent, community-centered representation.
Speaking shortly after the Gazette confirmation, Kalwanga expressed gratitude to the electorate for renewing his mandate.
“I sincerely thank the people of Busujju County for trusting me again with the responsibility to serve you in Parliament. This victory belongs to all of us,” he said.
He also extended appreciation to voters who backed both his parliamentary bid and the NUP presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, noting that their support strengthens the party’s broader push for accountable and transparent governance.
“I am grateful to everyone who voted for me and for our President. Your confidence strengthens our struggle for accountable and transparent leadership,” he added.
Kalwanga emphasized that his renewed term will focus on amplifying Busujju’s presence at the national level while accelerating development initiatives within the constituency.
“I will work to increase the visibility of Parliament in our constituency, bring more development projects to our people, and continue raising the flag of Busujju higher,” he pledged.
He further thanked the National Unity Platform for entrusting him with the party flag in Busujju County and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening party structures and promoting unity among supporters.
“I thank my party for the trust it has placed in me. I remain committed to working closely with party structures and strengthening unity among our people,” he said.
Kalwanga pledged to deepen collaboration with leaders across Busujju County and the wider Mityana District to ensure coordinated service delivery. He also stressed the importance of monitoring government-funded projects in the constituency to guarantee transparency and value for money.
“I will continue collaborating with all leaders in Busujju and Mityana District to ensure that government projects are properly implemented and that our people receive the services they deserve,” he said.
Reaffirming his cultural allegiance, the legislator declared his loyalty to the Kabaka, aligning his political leadership with the cultural values of Buganda.
Political observers describe the 2026 election outcome in Busujju County as a validation of performance. Over his previous terms, Kalwanga has been associated with infrastructure lobbying, social empowerment programs, and advocacy for improved health and education services. His leadership has also focused on championing the interests of youth, women, and farmers.
