The Uganda Police Force has stepped up road safety enforcement under its ongoing “Arrive Alive Operations Phase II,” urging drivers to follow traffic rules and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy.
Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura warned motorists against driving without a valid license and stressed the importance of vehicle maintenance.
“Ensure your tyres are in good condition, windscreens intact, and your lighting system fully functional. Where defects or missing essential components are identified, they must be repaired or replaced before you proceed,” he said.
Kananura said the measures are meant to protect drivers and other road users.
He also urged motorists to avoid reckless overtaking, observe speed limits, and uphold traffic regulations. “Road safety is not about blaming one another. It is about working together to create a safer and more responsible driving environment for everyone,” he added.
The traffic police confirmed that enforcement operations will continue across the country as part of efforts to reduce road accidents.
