A special prayer service was held at Church of Resurrection, Bugolobi, Church of Uganda, marking a significant milestone in the ministry of Rev. Canon Prof. Dr. Grace Lubaale, the Bishop-elect of Busoga Diocese.
The service, attended by senior clergy including Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, and Rev. Canon Dr. Rebecca Nyegenye, Vicar of All Saints Cathedral Nakasero, was a moment of celebration and reflection.
In her sermon, Rev. Canon Dr. Nyegenye emphasized the importance of the Lord's guidance and support in Bishop-elect Lubaale's new role, saying, "The Lord will hold the candle of His servant as he serves the people of Busoga." She urged the people of Busoga to commit to serving the Lord alongside their new Bishop while advising him to be cautious of ill-intentioned advice.
Bishop-elect Lubaale expressed his gratitude to the people of Kampala Diocese for their support and nurturing, saying, "I commend the people of Kampala Diocese for nurturing me in Church, which has led to my elevation to the level of a Bishop."
Following the prayer service, Bishop-elect Lubaale set off in a convoy led by police to Jinja, where he was welcomed by hundreds of believers at the Nile Bridge in Jinja City. The warm reception highlighted the excitement and anticipation surrounding his consecration and installation as the new Bishop of Busoga Diocese.
The consecration and installation ceremony is expected to be a grand affair, marking a new chapter in the history of Busoga Diocese.
